Hello,
I am Rory, an ESL consultant at EnglishWork.com. I have been
working for EnglishWork.com for two years now. It’s
been great and ever found the job rewarding and pleasant.
I was born in a small town called Seosan surrounded by hill-like
mountains all over. Spending my childhood in quiet and rural
environment, I moved to a big city close to Seoul when I was
sixteen years old.
I studied English at university in Seoul. I have always wanted
to learn other cultures and I thought learning English is
the best way to satisfy my curiosity of other culture and
be close to their history and the people who live other part
of the globe.
I love traveling as all of my applicants. I have traveled
England, Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Australia
and Hong Kong. I love the difference between the countries
I traveled but I didn’t like the high expenses of these
countries. When you come to Korea, you will figure out how
cheaply you can live on with decent conditions.
Korea should be very different place from where you come
from. Some of you might have great difficulties to understand
Korean culture (Koreans enjoy hot bowl of dog soup in summer)
and some of you can’t resist of beautiful Galbi and
Bulgogi (yummy Korean dishes) from the first taste and ever.
Teaching English isn’t easy even though you have years
of experiences in ESL. If you ask me a tip to be a good teacher
or beloved teacher, I would like to say “Try to be your
student’s friend” Teach them how can it be comfortable
to be with western people (some of your students might have
never met western people with blond hair and blue, wide eyes
in person).
In other words, don’t be nervous to be an English teacher
if you are new in ESL field. An ESL experience isn’t
necessary as long as you open your mind and willing to be
the children’s friend. Make the air they can speak up
and voice their words as a baby starts to make sounds in the
beginning and then how to spell a word that’s the order.
What do you think? Do you think you can do it?
If you are ready, it’s time to step forward now!
